The Moon welcoming the newly installed Native Bluebell (Wahlenbergia stricta)

The public sculpture at Kalkallo North Community Centre is an expansive and visually compelling artwork that presents several locally significant plants at approx 30:1 scale, across a 25 x 18m span. The purpose of this installation is to inspire community members, especially children at the adjacent Daycare Playground, to identify significant flora and appreciate their importance within the region.

The design of the sculpture takes inspiration from significant plants native to the area and daydreaming in the remnant grasslands. The plants chosen for the sculpture have ecological, historical, or cultural significance. The sculpture aims to promote local pride in the region’s natural and cultural heritage.
